A glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past two to three months. It is used to diagnose and monitor diabetes by showing the percentage of red blood cells coated with sugar (glycated). High levels indicate poor blood sugar control and a higher risk of diabetes-related complications, while the test is also used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes.
